Peter's room: check

I know it's been a very long time since I've said anything on this blog but I have an excuse, we've been very busy. We are furiously trying to get as many things done before Miss Violet makes her appearance in just another few weeks or so. One of the projects on the list was getting a room ready for Peter. He will be moving out of his room and into a big boy room complete with a bed. It's been a fun project. I've discovered that I prefer to decorate for boys more than I do girls. Sorry Roxie. I just like primary colors more than I do pastels. And I'm sick of the color pink so it's been nice to mix it up for Peter.

You'll have to just imagine what this room looked like before because I don't have "before" pictures but basically it was four, tan, blank walls. We painted the walls green and Matt (who has become quite the handyman) put the shelf all the way around the room.

This bed was a bed we bought off craigslist back in our Menlo Park days. It was quite a steal. It used to be white and now it is sporting a new bright red color.
This dresser used to be my grandmothers. I'm a little bit fond of all the scratches and dents. Peter will sleep his first night in the bed tonight. I think he likes it.... I suppose we'll see tonight.

Peter turns two!!

Happy Birthday to best the little two year old I know. Seriously, he's the best. He is the sunshine to all our day. He is continually happy and cheerful. We all love him so and it shows.

New years resolution

I have a few resolutions this year but a major one is to continue changing the way my family eats. Seems to be a recurring goal for lots of my friends and family so I thought I'd share this article written by a pretty smart guy. I might be biased though.

And if you like that, check out the blog too.

We eat pretty well now but I want my kids to grow up strong and healthy and to know that they had a mom that cared about what went in their cute, little bodies. Goal #2? Take more pictures of those cute, little bodies because they are growing pretty quick!

Happy reading!

best Christmas present ever

This Christmas, we visited Matt's family in lovely Laguna Beach. Taking a hiatus from all the snow was terrific. It was heavenly. I won't go into too many details. Just that it was warm, being with Matt's family is always a treat and we all had a wonderful Christmas. The real Christmas present was what we opened Christmas Eve though.
I had previously gone to an ultrasound to determine if we were having a brother or sister. However, I kept the picture in an envelope so as that we could open it as an entire family and it would be a surprise for all. Matt and I went to a baby store the morning of Christmas Eve and handed the store clerk our envelope and both a boy and girl outfit. The instructions were to look inside the envelope and wrap up the corresponding outfit, pink for a girl and blue for a boy.

As we were all opening our Eve presents, we opened our present and discovered that will be having...

                                         A GIRL!!!!
We were all very surprised. Both Matt and I expected another boy (no idea why) so we were shocked to find out that we will be having another girl. I'm happy to be in the land of pink and ribbons again. It was the best present we received.

Sad news

Hey all you Provonians out there (and non-provonians) check out this link:

Fire guts Provo Tabernacle - ksl.com

I'm seriously heartbroken. Having grown up in Provo, I know how much this building means to the city. I'm sad to see it go.

Roxie turns 5

I can't believe that Roxie went from this:

to this:
In just a short 5 years Roxie has grown to be a pretty great gal. I can't believe it's been 5 years. Our lives would not nearly be as exciting or joyous without Roxie. She brings a certain flair to our day. Literally.  I'm so happy she's mine.
